The original concept of this trick is credited to Jack Hughes.
Effect: On the magician’s table is seen a wooden cutout of a bellboy. He has a couple of houlettes attached – one near his chest and the other at his feet. A spectator freely selects a card from a deck of playing cards and shows it to everybody but the magician. The card is then returned to the deck and the latter mixed to loose the same.The deck is then placed at the bottom houlette. Cards are then taken one by one from the bottom houlette and replaced in the top one. This is done slowly and at any time the spectators may call “stop”. The card stopped at is immediately turned to the spectators and it is found to be the selected card! The card may be even signed by the spectator, if you so desire. The same trick can be done with multiple cards, each one signed by their respective recipients.
